Beanbag Prom-otion: Toys!
Weds 29th October 2008
John Lewis Nottingham

October's Beanbag Prom-otion at John Lewis Nottingham centred around two main themes, toys and Halloween! The concert began traditionally with a rendition of 'Teddy Bears Picnic' which got all the children up and dancing. Julia Damassa as Beanie Bear then took the children flying through the night on their beanbags, tying in with this concerts theme of Halloween.
Throughout their journey the toys began to come to life, as the musicians performed 'The Sugar Plum Fairy' and 'March of the Toy Soldiers', much to the delight of the children.
Next up Beanie Bear introduced some animal-themed music for the children, performed for them again by the ViVA musicians. This included 'Little White Duck' which all the children quacked along to with Beanie Bear! Throughout this various percussion instruments were introduced to the children as they danced.
The Beanbag Prom-otion concert ended with an uplifting rendition of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', which carried the children home on their beanbags!
The Beanbag Proms will continue with Scuttle! Wriggle! Buzz! on Saturday 21st February 2009. Please see concert listings for further details.
Supported by John Lewis, Nottingham; sinfonia ViVA and The Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham.
