On what makes working with sinfonia ViVA special...

There is something particularly satisfying about doing a complete cycle of something such as the five Beethoven Piano Concerti. It's rather like reading all the novels of Kundera or seeing all the Woody Allen films. For a performer, it offers the obvious benefit of approaching each individual piece from the widest possible perspective.

One of the great pleasures of this cycle has been the collaboration with sinfonia ViVA. We've been able to get to know each other in a way you only normally encounter in chamber music - and that gives the possibility (hopefully!) of a freshness and spontaneity that derives from a regular and enjoyable partnership.
