On what makes sinfonia ViVA special...
The thing that stands out when people ask me about sinfonia ViVA is that as an orchestra it is known for the Classical repertoire (Haydn/Mozart), but my first day on trial had me doing a plunger mute trumpet duet with Antonio 'Huggy Bear' Fargas singing 'Minnie the Moocher', and my first day in the job had me dressed as a pirate.
On personal fulfillment through involvement with ViVA outreach and education projects...
Children are infectious too (and occasionally toxic!) and I was easily drawn into a state of improvisation and imagination, forgetting real life momentarily. The adults contributed less and less until the children had become the real stars of the show, as they always will be! The success for me was that two of my favourite aspects of working with children were fulfilled, the giving over of responsibility and the playing with imagination and invention. The children will long remember the days they spent journeying on the high seas.
