News: Original fundraising appeal from sinfonia ViVA as part of city-wide collective
Oct 19 2011

sinfonia ViVA has teamed up with Derby City Council's Arts Team and a host of Derby arts organisations to raise funds in a new and innovative way to ensure that the city remains a hub of creativity.

From 24 October, for 1 month only, an exciting range of Derby arts projects will be listed live on the crowd funding website www.wedidthis.org.uk. We invite you to visit the website, view the projects and make donations.

sinfonia ViVA needs your support towards a brand new education project linked to a new concerto called Invocation that we have commissioned in response to Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. Through this ambitious project the Orchestra is looking to bring together over 43 artists and your donations will support the cost of re-orchestrating the work to use as the catalyst for the project involving 120 young people aged 7 – 21 years from Derby city schools and colleges.

For many, this will be their first experience of live classical music and through a series of workshops in school/college sinfonia ViVA will use music to enhance communication skills, build confidence and encourage creativity. The project will culminate with the young participants performing their own work with the Orchestra in a concert at the Derby Assembly Rooms in March 2012. This project will signal the start of the Orchestra's 30th anniversary year and is the Orchestra's contribution to Music Nation which is a Countdown Event for the London 2012 Festival, the finale of the Cultural Olympiad.

sinfonia ViVA needs to secure funding for each of its education projects and every donation beyond the £500 target will support a young person to take part in this original music-making project. And to give 120 young people that chance the Orchestra needs your help.

sinfonia ViVA's unique rewards
