We bring music to you
We bring music to you from the concert platform to the heart of the community. Flexibility is the key to the way we work. sinfonia ViVA regularly performs in major concert halls under the baton of Principal Conductor André de Ridder, joined by guest international artists. Our leader, principal violinist Benedict Holland presents a directed series which takes sinfonia ViVA to towns, cities and villages region wide whilst smaller classical and jazz combinations perform after hours concerts, at formal occasions and social gatherings.
We create and share music with you
Over 500 people take part in our ambitious award-winning music making projects each year. As well as introducing and sharing music from the past 400 years with you we work with contemporary composers and commission new orchestral and choral pieces, many of which are made in collaboration and performed by young people and specific groups on the concert platform with sinfonia ViVA.
Where your money goes
sinfonia ViVA's current level of activity costs just over £1/2 million each year. Our earned income makes up 36% of this and our Arts Council grant 35%. The remaining 29% (around £176,000 in 2009/2010) comes from private sources. This private funding from trusts and foundation, generous individuals and businesses ensure we are able to continue to embrace new opportunities and ways of working whilst nurturing the best of existing practice, making music accessible to the widest audience. Our vision is to make orchestral music accessible to all. From every £1 we receive we spend 77p on creating music making opportunities and use the remaining 23p to raise the next £1.
